YouTube is officially joining the year-in-review party. Inspired by Spotify Wrapped, the platform has rolled out YouTube Recap, a new annual feature that breaks down how you watched videos in 2025—across Shorts, long-form videos, and even downloads.
What YouTube Recap Shows
Your recap appears as a swipeable set of up to 12 cards, highlighting:
-
Your most-watched channels and interests
-
How your viewing habits evolved over the year
-
A fun “viewer personality” label based on what you watch
Yes, YouTube is putting you in a category. Popular types this year include The Sunshiner, The Wonder Seeker, and The Connector. Rarer labels like The Philosopher or The Dreamer? Subtle flex.
If you stream music on YouTube, your Recap also pulls in data from YouTube Music, showing your top artists and songs—though the full music breakdown still lives in the YouTube Music app.
How to Find Your YouTube Recap
YouTube Recap is rolling out now in North America and globally throughout the week. You can access it:
-
In the You tab on the mobile app
-
From the You section on desktop
-
Or directly at youtube.com/recap
Just make sure you’re signed in and running YouTube app version 18.43 or later. Once it’s live for you, you can share individual cards or download them for safekeeping.
What the World Watched in 2025
Alongside personal recaps, YouTube also released its global stats:
-
Top topic: Squid Game
-
Top creator: MrBeast
-
Top podcast: The Joe Rogan Experience
Shorts and long-form videos had separate trending lists, with Forrest Frank topping Shorts and Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s Die With a Smile leading long-form views.
Bottom line: whether you’re here for deep dives, feel-good clips, or endless Shorts, YouTube Recap is now your official proof of how you spent your screen time in 2025.
