Ohira Paper Co., Ltd. launched on January 20, 2025, a new fountain pen called the "Mojiko Craft Beer Fountain Pen Pale Ale" and matching bottle ink named "Mojiko Craft Beer Bottle Ink Pale Ale," both inspired by the popular craft beer from Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture — the renowned Mojiko Retro Beer.
Inspired by the warm amber hue of Pale Ale with a subtle reddish tint
From Mojiko Retro Beer, an original fountain pen inspired by the “Pale Ale,” known for its distinctive warm amber color with a subtle reddish tint reminiscent of the Kanmon Strait at sunset, has been released. The pen was created with the heartfelt desire to bring the joy of writing closer to everyone, just as Mojiko Beer has been loved and cherished by many.
The pen’s barrel and cap feature a translucent amber-red hue. The golden shimmer on the pen represents the bubbles that form when beer is poured. The cap is adorned with smaller gold glitter particles compared to the barrel, symbolizing the varying sizes of the beer bubbles. The nib section and cap top are accented in opaque white, evoking the rich foam typical of beer. The packaging design directly replicates the label of the actual “Pale Ale” beer can.
This fountain pen is equipped with a large 21-karat gold nib and is available in four nib sizes: Fine (F), Medium-Fine (MF), Medium (M), and Broad (B). The price is 55,000 yen (tax included).
Meanwhile, the bottle ink captures the unique warm amber color with a subtle reddish tint characteristic of Pale Ale, creating an ink that might just make you crave a glass of beer. The ink comes in a 20ml bottle and is priced at 1,980 yen (tax included).
