To extend the lead, you can simply shake the pencil up and down—there's no need to let go and re-grip your pencil every time. The pencil also has a conventional push button for users who prefer that method. The shaker mechanism can be locked and unlocked with a quick twist of the grip section to prevent the lead from accidentally extending in your pocket or pen case. When the shaker mechanism is locked, a small notch in the barrel will line up with the "Fure Fure Lock" line on the barrel.、
